الخانكاه، هى كلمة فارسية معناها بيت الأكل وقيل أصلها "خونقاه"، أى الموضع الذى يأكل فيه الملك، والخوانك - جمع خانكاه- نشأت في الإسلام في حدود القرن الرابع للهجرة، وجعلت لانقطاع الصوفية
